Looking for a new computer, anyone help? 1 Month ago Karma: 0
I'm currently getting my computer fixed, but it is 4 years old and am wanting a NEW computer. I'm quite tired of buying the off the shelf ones from Best Buy. Someone in game was talking about IBUYPOWER.com but I have no idea what to get. I only want to spend about 1k or less.
What in your alls experience can I get that won't be extinct within 1 year? But is also upgradeable down the road.
I currently have a HP Pavilion, it was top of the line back then but now i'm thinking of more of a gameing system that just happens to do other things, rather then buying a system that does other things and don't play games real well.

Any ideas or links, please feel free to help me

THanks,
The_SHocker

Hey The_Shocker.

I did get your PM about the computer earlier and I apologize for not responding to it sooner.

Due to various reasons, I cannot find the time to build you a computer from scratch. But I will be MORE THAN HAPPY to recommend individual parts or fully-built computers based on your needs the next time we are in-game at the same time or through the forums here.

Talk to you soon.

I only have two suggestions that would make the most bang for your buck. I am a die hard Nvidia fan because of the state of the art advancements in DDR4 and processor technology. NVidia cards work more efficiently and will not require a overclock-able power supply.
Second, a GeForce series 9 GTX card might be an older card but it will out perform all 200 series cards. This is a tried and true video card. In all of the gaming rigs i have built, half of the 200 series cards have failed in the first year or have had driver issues. If you have the money, a 400 series GTX are great in the PCIx16/video port market, but my money is on the any 9700/9800 GTX card.

Enjoy...

After getting on a new server from work, I at least can read the boards here. Thanks for the advice. After getting my computer checked they say the MotherBoard is shot, and really not worth fixing it. SO, Yes I am looking for something new now. I have checked into getting a computer from IBUYPOWER. Has anyone ever bought something from them?
I could make sure that it has a 9700/9800 vid card, that might help keep the cost down, but still be powerful enough for my needs.
Thanks Dozzer, and also WarMachine, If you want to take the time to post your best suggestions for a nice system for around 1,000.00 give or take a couple hundred that would be great. I probably won't be building my own though, I just don't have the knowledge or $'s to take that chance.
